Healthy chocolate sauce

Healthy chocolate sauce

This recipe only uses unsweetened raw cacao powder which is naturally packed with antioxidants. It’s heart-healthy and contains none of that added sugars. Win! You can get raw cacao powder at the organic section of supermarkets (Village Grocer, Jaya Grocer) and even regular bakery shops. If you can only find cocoa powder, that works fine too.

Use this chocolate sauce as you would with the store-bought ones. Drizzle over your smoothies, ice-cream, cakes, fruits – anything at all!

Ingredients:

4 tbsp raw unsweetened cacao powder

1-2 tbsp pure honey or maple syrup

4-5 tbsp coconut oil (gradually add the oil while mixing and stop when you’ve reached your desired consistency)

Directions:

Mix the raw cacao powder and sweetener into a bowl. Gradually add the coconut oil while stirring well until you are happy with the consistency. Less coconut oil will yield a thicker sauce, vice versa.

Tip: If you’re using it to coat fruits, dip fruits into the chocolate sauce and place on a baking sheet, then into the freezer to chill. The chocolate sauce will set and you’ll have a beautiful chocolate coating!
